Lip Plumpers : Are They the Answer to Sexy, Fuller Lips ?

Lip Plumpers : Are They the Answer to Sexy, Fuller Lips ? by Valerie Goettsch

Have you been yearning for full, sensuous lips like Lisa Rinna or Angelina Jolie? There may be a solution for those of us with less than endowed lips. Some exciting new cosmetic lip treatments, lip plumpers, anti-aging lip balms, and lip masks are available to help give us those kissable, sexy lips we covet.

How Do Lip Plumpers Work?

Many of the trendy cosmetic lip treatments on the market are special lip glosses that contain an irritant ingredient such as capsicum frutescens, the fruit of the red pepper plant, which is used for making cayenne pepper. Others contain cinnamon oil, wintergreen or clove. All will cause the lips to temporarily plump and swell. They work by increasing circulation in the lips and dilating blood vessels. Often the irritants in lip plumpers are balanced with a soothing agent such as green tea. Some formulations include palmitoyl-oligopeptide to help synthesize collagen.

Users of cosmetic lip treatments and lip plumpers are generally women looking for a bee-sting pout without resorting to expensive collagen injections. The lip treatments may last anywhere from several hours to several days, depending on the product.

Many women love their full, pouty "Angelina lips." However, some women find lip plumper products sting or feel uncomfortable, and they shouldn't be used if you have very dry, cracked lips or ultra sensitive skin.

Topical Collagen, Anti-aging Lip Balms and Lip Masks

Plumped out lips are not for everyone. If you just want softer, moister lips and you want to diminish the tiny vertical lines that cause lipstick bleeding, consider using a topical collagen serum, anti-aging lip balm or lip mask.

Some topical products help stimulate the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid, which helps make lips and skin soft, moist and firmer. Anti aging lip balms and lip masks that contain alpha hydroxy acid can gently slough off dead, dry skin to alleviate dry, chapped lips, reveal smoother, softer lips and reduce fine lines.

Drug Rehab Saved Her Family

Drug Rehab Saved Her Family by Melissa Hallmark

Randy and Brooke met in college their sophomore year. She was working her way through college as a part time dental assistant to get her (DDS) Doctor of Dental Surgery and Randy was working on his bachelor's degree in Engineering. They were so happy and full of life and it seemed that there was nothing that could stop them from climbing the latter to success. In the spring of 2004 their world came crashing down. Randy was in a fatal car accident on his way home one night from working late on a project. It was raining and he lost control of his truck sliding into the car in front of him which caused five other vehicles to collide on the dark interstate. Brooke received the call around 1:05 a.m. that there had been an accident and that she should go right way to the hospital. The next few days were torturous; Randy was on life support and had a collapsed lung, broken ribs and a broken leg. He was on morphine and couldn't even open his eyes. Brooke was so scared she would lose him and she spent everyday by his side waiting for him to pull through. On March 27, 2004 he had a change for the better and they took him off life support. He was still however in a lot of pain but, he was a live and out of any real danger so they thought. On April 10, 2004 he was released from the hospital and Brooke took him home. Over the next few months he continued to get his strength back and was eventually walking normal again. Life started to get back to what it was before with school, work, and all the things that happy couples do. They were going to get married in June of 2005 and Brooke was so thankful that all the horror was behind them. Still, there was something that just wasn't right about Randy. Brooke later found out he was addicted to the prescription pain medication the doctor had been giving him. On December 24, 2004 Brooke found six different prescriptions from different doctors for the same thing, Oxycontin, and she knew they were in trouble. She confronted him later that day and he made excuses about how he needed them to function and the family doctor was a jerk who didn't understand how much pain he was in. A few days later Brooke started calling around to the different doctor's offices to let them know what was going on. Within weeks Randy found out and was furious with her. Brooke had never seen him like that before. He was not the same man she had fallen in love with. She soon realized he was getting the Oxycontin from the streets since he could no longer get it from the doctors. Brooke didn't know what to do or how she was going to help him? Then the worst thing possible happened. Brooke found a needle and a bag of heroin in his bathroom drawer. She called his parents and asked them to come over and they decided to confront him. Brooke knew he would just deny it all and that they needed professional help. That's when they contacted a drug rehab program. Brooke talked to the counselor on the phone for about 2 hours and he helped them set up an Intervention for Randy. The next day they planned to have dinner at his parent's house and the lady who was sent to do the intervention was there too. She had instructed Brooke about the things she should have prepared for him such as clothes, toiletries etc. Brooke packed everything he would need for the next 3-4 months and put it in the trunk of her car. That night was one of the most painful nights Brooke could remember. Randy was furious. He was cursing them all and pulling at his hair. Brooke thought he was going to throw his dinner glass at her head at one point. This struggle went on for hours and Brooke was beginning to lose hope. The interventionist asked Randy at that point if she could speak with him alone and he said, yes. They were talking for about 45 minutes and when they came out of the dinning room he was in tears. He grabbed hold of Brooke and hugged her tight and promised he was going to be ok. He had agreed to get help. As the months went by and Randy got better, Brooke could once more see the light at the end of the tunnel. The way the drug rehab counselor and the interventionist helped the family to find a place to handle his addiction and regain his self respect and responsibility was phenomenal. Randy graduated from the program in April of 2005 and they got married in June. Brooke is now pregnant with their first child and they are currently living the life they always wanted. They will always be thankful to those who helped them get their life back.

High Blood Pressure In Children

High Blood Pressure In Children by Ann Stewart

A diagnosis of hypertension is made only when a person has at least three separate readings performed one to several weeks apart. While the condition is most common among adults, children can have high blood pressure too, even as infants. In fact, since the early 2000s there has been an alarming rate of increase among kids and adolescents.

Researchers found a trend of high blood pressure in children ages eight to 17 years who were overweight or obese. As kids grow, their blood pressure increases from a systolic pressure of about 70-90 in an infant to adult values in a teenager.

Among young kids, the "normal" range will depend on the child's gender, age, and height; your child's doctor will be able to compare your child's blood pressure with national norms. As the condition usually does not display any symptoms, diagnosing it in kids especially can be tricky.

Juvenile hypertension is defined as a blood pressure greater than the 95th percentile for their age, height, and gender. In other words, 95% of kids of the same age, height, and gender will have blood pressure below this number.

Although the severe form of the condition is rare in kids, even mild to moderate hypertension over time, if not treated, can cause damage to the heart, kidneys, and blood vessels.

Stressful situations can elevate the blood pressure. When the stress level goes down, the pressure returns to normal. These temporary increases in blood pressure are not considered hypertension.

A diagnosis of hypertension is made only when a person has multiple high blood pressure readings over a period of time. In children, blood pressure normally rises during growth and maturation, and varies greatly during adolescence.

Physical activity and changes in position can temporarily raise blood pressure. An increase in body weight will also cause a rise in tension. It tends to develop about 10 years after a young person becomes overweight.

It is highly recommended that children, who either have the condition or are predisposed to contracting it, quit smoking or never start. The use of tobacco can develop into long-term associated heart problems.

Kids with severe hypertension should not participate in weight- and power-lifting, bodybuilding, or strength training until their blood pressure is under control and a doctor OKs it.

Consider this: the life of living creatures is in the blood. The Bible tells us that it's sacred and was to be offered back to God, the Creator, for the atonement of sin. (Lev. 17: 11) Therefore, do not take your children's blood for granted. Take good care of it with life-sustaining nourishment for optimum life.

I Can Cure my Vaginal Yeast Infection ?

I Can Cure my Vaginal Yeast Infection ? by Walter Scheu, Th.D.

I Can Cure my Vaginal Yeast Infection?

You may suspect you have a vaginal yeast infection, by one or more of the following. Vaginal yeast infections can be very uncomfortable, however, are usually not of a very serious nature. A very uncomfortable feeling is the chief complaint, my wife talked about. . Symptoms include the following: Itching and burning in the vagina and around the vulva (the skin that surrounds your vagina), a white vaginal discharge that may look like cottage cheese, pain during sexual intercourse, and/or a swelling of the vulva.

Vaginal yeast infections are caused by a small fungus called Candida albicans. Yeast organisms are abnormally small for fungus, and usually live in small numbers on the skin and inside the vagina, that if you're a woman. The warmth and moist climate is ideal for the growth of the fungus under normal conditions the acidic environment of the vagina will tend to keep the yeast from growing. In the event the vagina becomes less acidic, the yeast will grow into a vaginal infection.

It is commonly felt, in my opinion, that about 75% (3[4) of all women will during their lifetime have a vaginal yeast infection, at least once. Personally, we like to use an all natural treatment for anything possible. However, we do consult with our doctor, aka health care professional with regards to what ails us.

It is thought that many factors in and of themselves may cause vaginal yeast infections. Some of these would be: Moisture and irritation of the vagina, some antibiotics, birth control pills and steroids. The acidic balance of the vagina may be altered by a woman's period (menstruation), pregnancy, and diabetes

After we consulted with our medical doctor, and read almost everything on the internet we went with a twelve hour cure program, rather than a treatment alone. By electing to go this route, and a fair amount of research, and talking between us, we elected, or I should say, my wife elected and felt far more comfortable with a natural cure, for her recurring vaginal yeast infections. It is her contention that the body, her body, would respond better and faster to a natural element, than a made one.

Well, I know this is a very short article on curing vaginal yeast infection. Thanks for your time and stopping by to view my article, on a cure for vaginal yeast infection

Sexual Dysfunction | Is Diabetes Hurting Your Sex Life ?

Sexual Dysfunction | Is Diabetes Hurting Your Sex Life ? by Diana Benzaia

We spoke with Lois Jovanovic, M.D., clinical professor of medicine at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and CEO of the Sansum Diabetes Research Institute in Santa Barbara.

How common is sexual dysfunction in diabetes?

About 20 percent of adults with type 1 or type 2 experience some degree of sexual dysfunction. It turns out, women have more problems than men--about 30 percent for women, 15 to 20 percent for men.

Men get more attention--in part because the pharmaceutical companies have pills to help them. And men usually know that diabetes is associated with sexual dysfunction, but it's rare for women to. So if women develop sexual problems, they rarely think it could be related to their diabetes.

What causes the problem in men?

In most men, damage to nerves and blood vessels (diabetic neuropathy) causes erectile dysfunction. Diabetes damages nerves and the arteries throughout the body. Just as damage to arteries can lead to heart attacks and damage to nerves can lead to foot pain and numbness, nerve and vascular problems can interfere with erection. In addition, some medications for blood pressure as well as certain diabetic conditions can cause impotence as a side effect. Finally, it's not uncommon for men with diabetes to experience depression, which often dampens sexual desire. So, with men the likely causes are: diabetes complications, drug side effects or depression--in that order. The appropriate treatments are modification of drug prescriptions and doses, medications for erectile dysfunction and treatment for depression.

What are the causes in women?

The order is completely reversed. The most common cause of sexual dysfunction in women with diabetes is depression and loss of sexual desire. Women need to be aroused to experience vaginal lubrication and engorgement. During foreplay and sex, you don't become engorged or lubricated simply from natural secretions. Without the trigger in your head--the libido, really--there's no enjoyment by your body. Intercourse can be very painful; this condition is called dyspareunia. You just don't feel like it, so you don't enjoy it. It hurts, and you don't look forward to the next time.

If depression isn't the cause, side effects from medication are the second place to look in women. Only lastly would one consider vascular and nerve problems. (This is good news for women, because depression is far more amenable to treatment than severe nerve and blood vessel disease.) Diabetic neuropathy occurs far later in the disease for a woman, and it has to be quite severe before it will affect her ability to engorge and lubricate. By then, she may already have eye disease (retinopathy) and kidney disease--that is, she's so sick that sex may not be much of a concern for her.

Can anything be done to prevent sexual dysfunction from diabetes?

Good blood glucose control can reduce the risk of all diabetes complications, including sexual dysfunction. Blood sugar that's bouncing around can cause depression all by itself. Women who notice their mood flagging or who find themselves developing sleep problems should take a step back and look at what's going on in their lives.

Sometimes depression itself interferes with good diabetes self-care, so it becomes a vicious cycle. Take care of yourself. Give yourself what you need so you don't go down the path of sadness and depression.

Getting Help

Knowledge that diabetes can contribute to depression and interfere with sexual satisfaction can begin the healing, but only if it empowers you to get help. According to Dr. Jovanovic, treatment requires a sensitive listener, coping strategies and, possibly, medication.
Act as your own detective and pay attention to what makes you irritated, anxious, angry or depressed.
Talk with your doctor about your feelings; you need the support of your physician, who should be able to help you work through the problem. Be willing to change--it may be key to moving from depression to happiness.
Don't be discouraged if you are prescribed a medication that happens to dampen sexual appetite. It may be a necessary intermediate step.
Don't hesitate to seek help if you're experiencing sexual dysfunction. Therapy can be the first step to restoring that pleasurable part of your life.

Symptoms of Sleep Apnea

Symptoms of Sleep Apnea by T. Houser

The most common symptoms of sleep apnea are loud snoring and excessive daytime sleepiness. Just about everyone who has had sleep apnea snores. However, not everyone that snores has sleep apnea. Excessive daytime sleepiness occurs when a person falls asleep when they normally should not be falling asleep, such as while you are driving, eating or even talking.

Other symptoms of sleep apnea are periods of not breathing which could occur from 5 times and hour to more than 50 times per hour which is a sever case of sleep apnea. By not breathing while sleeping, it results in having less oxygen in your blood.

Symptoms of sleep apnea include:

* Constantly tossing and turning during sleep. * Choking, gasping for breath, sweating and chest pain during sleep * Irritable and tired, personality changes * Feeling un-refreshed after sleeping * Memory and concentration problems * Approximately 50% of sleep apnea sufferers report headaches * Nighttime heartburn * Nocturnal urinating

A short lapse in breathing when sleeping will not usually cause a big drop in your blood oxygen level. Seniors may normally have periods when they stop breathing while sleeping thus making it difficult to diagnose sleep apnea.

Many sleep apnea sufferers do not even know that they stop breathing during the night. These episodes of not breathing can happen up to a hundred times a night. Sleep apnea can be fatal if the person does not wake and it can be very harmful due to serious and severe sleep deprivation.

There are factors that you should be aware of if you think you have sleep apnea. Lifestyle changes could reduce your sleep apnea symptoms without seeking medical help. Some factors cannot be changed or controlled such as age and throat structure.

Controllable factors include being overweight, especially in the neck area. Irregular sleep patterns such as working different shifts are a controllable factor to some degree. Smoking and drinking alcohol are factors as well. Sleep aids that relax the throat muscles can obstruct your airway leading to sleeping problems. Allergies that block the nasal passage are another somewhat controllable factor.

If your symptoms are severe, or lifestyle changes have not helped then it is recommended that you consult your physician. In time, you should be able to fix your sleep apnea problem and enjoy a good night's sleep.

Natural Health Cure - Acne

Natural Health Cure - Acne by Richard Wise

If you are afflicted with acne, you may consider that it is one of the worst conditions that you can suffer. Because of the unpleasant scarring, that may be associated with an acne attack, it is understandable that many sufferers become desperate, and embark upon a path of trying one form of treatment after another. In many instances this hectic spiral doesn't work, and only adds to the distress.

As with other skin conditions, acne will respond to the right treatment. It is better to consider just which acne treatments are successful. You may be relieved to know that you are not the only person who has been afflicted by this distressing complaint, and that many others have dealt with the problem successfully.

You should be aware that acne is curable if it is treated with the right products. It would be good to think that a miracle quick fix was available, but effective treatment will take time and commitment. In this respect natural health treatment should serve you well, and the important thing you will need to know is your skin type, to avoid wasting your money on unsuitable products.

It may be as well to state again that an effective treatment for acne will require a committed, proactive approach. With this in mind, and using natural health treatments, you should be able to eliminate acne the natural way. It would also be as well to remember, that natural health remedies are less severe than chemical preparations. Therefore, they will minimise side effects and limit the possibility of allergic responses.

Your proactive approach, including natural health treatment, with natural health ingredients, offers the best that nature can provide to cure acne. This procedure will enable you to feed and nourish your skin, and assist you towards a pain free cure.

Natural Health Products that you will need to treat acne include face washes and facial scrubs, cleansers, toners, and natural day and night creams. You should realise that to eliminate your acne you will need to persevere, but a complete cure should be well worth the effort.

A daily routine will help with your objective to cure acne. Combine a systematic approach with natural health remedies, and your persistence will be rewarded.

It is understandable that your confidence may have suffered a set back, prior to successfully treating your acne the natural health way. However, overcoming the problem will have made you stronger in other ways. With your self-esteem restored, you may decide that natural health products can assist in ways other than just curing acne, and seek the full benefit of a natural health lifestyle.

Personal Development Growth That Lasts

Personal Development Growth That Lasts by Jeff Smith

When someone mentions having your own personal development growth plan what sorts of things do you think about?

Let me try and guess a few of them:

- Goal setting - Motivation - Increasing your self-esteem and confidence - Improving your image or public speaking - Making better use of your time - Empowering yourself to be happier

Recognize a few of these?

Certainly, understanding that you must set goals and organize your effort around achieving those goals is important and helpful on your road to self improvement.

Similarly, staying motivated is a critical part of achieving any progress on your personal growth plan. For many, motivation is a daily struggle - a losing battle where we blame procrastination and lack of motivation for our inability to make progress.

But let's take a deeper look at a personal development growth plan that is based solely on ways to technically make you better each stage of the planning and execution phase of personal improvement.

Try answering the following questions:

"Where do you uncover objectives worthy enough of setting goals?"

Do you know what you want today in terms of a "perfect" career or business?

Do you understand what would trul make you happy if you could snap your fingers and it appeared instantly?

What about motivation? What would keep you motivated day-in and day-out? If motivation was not a frame of mind but rather was based on KNOWING you are driving towards the ultimate objectives in your life, wouldn't that keep you motivated?

Personal Development Growth From The Inside

You see, what nobody seems to talk about is that you can learn all of the techniques, case studies, examples and strategies you want when driving towards personal improvement, but if you do not base them on what is inside of you (alignment), then they are just technical tactics that will not result in lasting change.

By using techniques such as mediation, yoga and introspection, you can derive truly meaningful objectives in your drive to achieve personal development growth resulting in results that will surpass your wildest dreams.

By mixing internal realization with traditional spects of personal development growth you will have the secret to long-term, sustained personal improvement in your life.

Chelation Therapy Could Save Your Life

Chelation Therapy Could Save Your Life by Paul Crantz

I'm always on the lookout for nutrients, foods and lifestyle information that will make our bodies and minds healthier and our lives happier, but this little gem has escaped my radar so far, and I suspect that mainstream awareness needs to be raised, starting now! This is about a simple and inexpensive synthetic amino acid related to common household vinegar called EDTA (EthyleneDiamineTetraAcetic Acid).

EDTA was developed by the Germans in 1931 to reverse heavy-metal poisoning from the ingestion of lead, mercury, aluminum, cadmium, and more, especially rampant from the battlefields from World War 1. Chelation therapy is not some new and trendy miracle cure, but for various reasons, it's one of the best guarded secrets out there flying beneath the mainstream health conscious radar, known for health improvement. If you realize even one or two gains from a huge list of alleged benefits, EDTA deserves to be classified as an astounding miracle compound.

EDTA works on the principle of chelation therapy, and without being too technical, see "chelation" at Wikipedia, works by removing excessive levels of 13 minerals from your body -- lead, mercury, nickel, cadmium, and aluminum -- all toxic heavy metals. It also removes calcium from arteriosclerotic plaque. That's the stuff that hardens the arteries and constricts blood flow to and from the heart. Studies have shown that by reducing harmful plaque, EDTA reduces blood pressure in about 60% of high blood pressure patients. Not only that, EDTA can reduce or reverse the effect of a stroke, particularly after the stroke, but even as late as two years following a stroke and it can reduce the need for bypass surgical procedures. EDTA can greatly reduce the need for lower extremity amputations.

Now comes a whole laundry list of benefits, as if the above wasn't enough. EDTA dissolves kidney stones and protects against iron poisoning and toxic iron buildup in the liver. Regular use has also been shown to improve memory as well as of cholesterol buildup in the liver, thereby reducing blood cholesterol levels throughout the body. By cleaning out our arteries and vessels, EDTA chelation reduces or relaxes excessive heart contractions, helping to normalize 50% or better, of irregular heart rhythms. The risk of heart attacks or strokes is greatly reduced, especially as we age.

EDTA chelation helps to prevent and reduce osteoarthritis. It reduces and alleviates the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Chelation helps to smooth skin wrinkles and aids in restoring softer and more youthful skin in general. In addition, it helps to lower insulin requirements for diabetics. It even dissolves large and small blood clots. Studies and clinical trials have also shown that EDTA chelation can reverse diabetic gangrene as well as restore impaired vision, particularly in the diabetic whose suffering from macular degeneration. Diabetics should undoubtedly talk to their nutritionists about EDTA.

EDTA chelation treatment can help patients with very advanced chronic diseases and in the majority of cases bring the patient back to normal functioning. The treatment can clean up the blood vessels and organs of even the most severely ill patients, and many times the patient can then be successfully treated with the usual conventional treatments. However, medical science in the U.S. seems to be geared more to curing the disease after it's onset, rather than overall prevention. I just have to wonder why more press and education isn't made readily available, stressing simple and effective remedies, such as the subject of this article.

If I were a conspiracy theory advocate, I would almost suggest, as many people have, that the amount of money involved in treating crisis conditions would preclude the revenue generated from illness prevention, or wellness advocacy. It may end up shaking the current status quo from it's complacency, possibly revolutionizing health care, as currently practiced in America. How much better would it be if we could spend more resources and attention on keeping people well, rather than concentrating on trying to make people better after they are sick. We should concentrate on health improvement and maintenance, possibly embracing non conventional methodology presently outside the current confines of empirical medicine.

Chelation therapy is great stuff but it's not a cure. There is no free lunch, so to speak. It can help in reversing some diseases very well, open blocked blood vessels, and restore circulation, but it is not a cure. If you don't pay attention to diet, if you don't stop smoking, if you don't take the proper nutritional supplements, if you don't exercise regularly, if you won't make the lifestyle changes necessary for good health, then eventually you'll be back to square one or worse. EDTA is very inexpensive, can be purchased over the counter, and is definitely worth a longer look. Thanks for reading.

Mind Your Diet - Brain Food for Optimal Mental Enhancement and Mind Metabolism

Mind Your Diet - Brain Food for Optimal Mental Enhancement and Mind Metabolism by Paul Crantz

As you know, the brain is the key organ. Our whole well being depends on the function and, specifically to this article, what we feed our brains. There are certain foods that are not only delicious, in my opinion, but provide maximum nutritional value for brain health.

Let's start with Choline. You've probably seen it advertised everywhere, but what is Choline and who needs it? Choline plays an integral role throughout the body and throughout life. It's an ingredient of the membranes surrounding cells. A chemical building block of every cell, it also transports a cholesterol carrier out of the liver and helps rid the blood of homocysteine, an amino acid that at high concentrations increases the risk of heart disease. Furthermore, choline is a precursor to molecules that relay signals between nerve cells, including those in the brain. Choline is available as a supplement, but the best sources are foods naturally rich in choline.

Eggs, especially the yolks, are among the richest sources of choline. A 12 oz. glass of skim milk provides as much choline as two eggs. If you're sensing a trend here, yes, the best-known choline-rich foods tend to be animal products, especially ones high in fat. Vegans however, should know that orange juice and whole grain cereals, breads and pasta contain good amounts of nutritionally available choline as well.

Carbohydrates may not always be great for the waistline, but they are crucial for brain fuel. Most of us , after exertion, have eaten a candy bar and felt better very quickly. That's because the brain is a sugar hog, a carbo-craver, utilizing 20 percent of the body's carbohydrate supply. Yet it's a smart hog, being selective about the type of sugars it craves and how it processes them. It prefers a nice steady supply. When the brain receives a steady supply of sugar for fuel, it chugs along smoothly at a steady pace. But when levels of sugar in the blood fluctuate, the brain doesn't get its steady fuel supply and behavior and learning become more erratic. A common cause of mood swings and loss of concentration.

Key point here, don't load up on "junk foods" and heavily processed foods. After all, carbs are converted to glucose sugars, which are absorbed quickly, triggering large amounts of insulin, needed to process the sugars into the cells. Foods with a high glycemic index stimulate the pancreas to secrete a lot of insulin, which causes the sugar to quickly empty from the blood into the cells. This can result in a "sugar high", resulting in mood swings. The best carbs are complex carbohydrates, or what grandmother termed "starches". Starches and fruit sugars (fructose) do not cause the roller-coaster mood swings that the junk sugars do. If nothing else, have a double shot of espresso.

Foods that are rich in complex carbs, or starches, are fruits, such as grapefruit, apples, cherries, oranges, and grapes, which have a low glycemic index. Fruits have a lower G.I. than fruit juices, because the fiber in the fruit slows the absorption of the fruit sugar. Cereals and grains such as oatmeal and bran have the lowest G.I. Other foods with a favorable G.I. are spaghetti and rice. Legumes, such as soybeans, kidney beans and lentils are a very good choice. Yogurt, preferably plain, milk and eggs are also excellent sources of complex carbs.

Exercise is very important for overall well being. And no, you don't have to endure a monster workout or a grinding exercise regimen. One of the best exercises that we can do to clear our heads is a fairly brisk 20 minute walk. I have more coming on nutrition, thank you for reading.

The Latest Treatments For Stuttering

The Latest Treatments For Stuttering by Steve Hill

My name is Steve Hill and in this article I am going to write about the way in which I managed to overcome the speech impediment commonly known as stuttering or stammering. The stutter had had a major impact on my life and by the age of twenty-two I could bare it no more. I then commenced a long and emotional journey which I am thankful to report ultimately led to the promised land of fluency.

I have heard many people talk about their particular goals in life. I want to achieve this or that they say. I also had a goal as I grew up, the goal started when I was a child, continued through my teenage years and was still present as I entered into adulthood. My goal was not to become a footballer, a dentist or doctor but was instead to one day be able to speak without the fear of stuttering. A stutter free life would be just perfect for me.

Despite having this form of speech impediment I was actually quite a confident person. The real Steve Hill rarely made an appearance in the real world but on the inside I was buzzing with ideas as to what I would do and become if only I could eradicate this horrible stutter.

Aged twenty-two I decided to go to war with my stutter. This was a battle I was determined not to lose, I would leave no stone unturned in my quest to beat the stutter. I wanted to be fluent, therefore I studied how fluent people spoke, how they breathe, how they handle pressure, how they formulate and pronounce all of the sounds that I was unable to say such as b, v, g, d, and m words, and how they managed to speak on that dreaded contraption they call the telephone.

It took me nearly a year to achieve fluency and of course I have only desrcibed a very small part of the process in this article.

I have now been fluent for eleven years and I now have a career as a speech coach where I teach people who stutter the techniques that I were successful for me. This coaching is in the form of a speech course, a booklet or a seventy minute dvd.

Your Brain is Voracious

Your Brain is Voracious by Paul Crantz

Your brain is a very demanding organ, with it's own somewhat selective dietary requirements. So, it stands to reason that your diet can make a great deal of difference in how you think, not to mention your cognitive responses and general overall health. Eat smarter, not harder.

Please, start your day out with a good hearty breakfast. I'm too busy in the morning, I don't have time for breakfast. The brain needs a good steady supply of glucose early in the day for optimal performance and if you find yourself skipping breakfast, you can find yourself feeling sluggish and dull at work or wherever. Whole wheat toast is fast and easy to make, it's a great source of complex carbohydrates, and the fiber alone has been found to help cognitive functions over time. Add a glass of orange juice, or other juice, and you've just added valuable natural anti oxidants along with your readily available morning brain boost. Beans and toast are said to be an ultimate brainy breakfast, but I know what you're thinking, not my first choice.

As we get older, we can find our memory slipping a bit, it's only natural right? Well, studies have shown that foods rich in choline, vital for the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the brain, and foods rich in antioxidants such as beta-carotene and vitamins C, D and E, are essential to overall optimal brain function. The antioxidants mop up the free radicals that constantly attack healthy cell walls, serving to aid in cognitive functions. Also, low levels of acetylcholine are also associated with Alzheimer's disease, and some studies suggest that increasing choline intake through supplements or diet may slow age-related memory loss.

What is an example of a brainy lunch? How about on omelet and a green salad? Eggs are very rich in choline and a green salad is loaded with antioxidants. Better yet, pop open a can of sardines, a super food loaded with protein and crucial Omega 3 fatty acids. Grilled salmon or Ahi tuna are also very high in Omega 3 and probably more palatable than sardines. Finish your lunch with a yogurt dessert, and you should be alert and ready to finish off the day. That's because yogurt contains the amino acid tyrosine, needed for the production of the neurotransmitters dopamine and noradrenalin, among others. Studies by military scientists indicate that tyrosine becomes depleted when we are under stress and that supplementing your intake can improve alertness and memory while fighting fatigue.

A mid afternoon snack is a great idea. Try something like a whole wheat bagel with peanut butter with a small cup of yogurt, I love Yoplait blueberry, or a glass of low fat milk. It'll take the edge off of your hunger and add some quick glucose to the brain. Here is an ultimate brain and energy food; a sliced banana spread with peanut butter. It's a nearly nutritionally complete food. Try to limit highly processed snack foods which contain trans-fatty acids. These are not only bad for the waistline, but more and more studies are showing that these trans-fatty acids may be involved in a whole large list of serious mental disorders, ADHD and dyslexia among them.

And here's a suggestion, top off your supper with some strawberries and blueberries, when available. These berries are nutritional powerhouses, filled with antioxidants and essential fruit sugars. Besides, they taste good!

The gist of this article is to choose delicious foods which are rich in the nutrients that are universally agreed upon as vital for brain health as well as starting our day out with a hearty breakfast. The foods mentioned above are a large part of my diet, following a near fatal illness three years ago, and work for me.

There's lots of info and recipes available for all tastes and following these guidelines will most certainly make a difference in how you think and feel for life. Thanks for reading.

What to Ask in Your Cosmetic Dentistry Consultation ?

What to Ask in Your Cosmetic Dentistry Consultation ? by Sara Goldstein

It's important you feel completely comfortable with your cosmetic dentist. Therefore, before your initial consultation it is a good idea to research your dentist and the procedure you are considering.

Dr. Sands, a leading cosmetic dentist in Hollywood and Beverly Hills, California, shares his recommendations on finding a great dentist:

"You should certainly feel comfortable with your dentist before going ahead with a procedure, and the best way to feel comfortable is to be informed. There are several easy ways to research dentists in your area: you can use the internet, check with the courthouse and Better Business Bureau for licensing documentation, and speak with past patients of the dentist."

"Make sure you find out about past or pending legal actions and that you confirm the education level of the dentist you are considering. Also verify that they're licensed to practice in that state."

Once you have chosen your dentist, you are ready to research specific procedures.

Some questions to ask

§ What procedure(s) will offer the best long-term results? Most cosmetic dental conditions can be treated with several different options. All procedures vary in the quality of their results, the length of time the treatment will remain effective, and the price. Your goal should be finding the one procedure that offers the best results over the longest time for a price that is within your budget. So ask your cosmetic dentist to explain your multiple treatment options, including the pros and cons of each and the cost associated with each.

§ How long will the procedure take? Depending on the procedure you choose, the time spent in your dentist's office will vary greatly. This is something that should be discussed at your initial consultation.

§ Will the procedure hurt? If so, what kind of pain management is offered? Some cosmetic dental procedures are next to painless. Others require an anesthetic of some kind. Make sure you understand what kind of anesthetic your dentist will be using in your procedure. If you prefer something other than the standard anesthetic used, make sure that can be made available.

§ Are there any possible side effects? It's important to know what side effects you can expect before undergoing a cosmetic dental procedure. Some procedures cause minor side effects, such as aching teeth and gums or teeth sensitivity. Other procedures may cause longer-lasting pain that might require short-term pain medication. Knowing a procedure is expected to hurt a little will reduce potential anxiety that may arise with post-procedure pain.

§ What are realistic expectations for this procedure? It's important that you and your dentist are on the same page about the ultimate outcome of the procedure and that your expectations are realistic. Tell your cosmetic dentist what you envision and ask for an honest opinion.

§ Will the procedure require multiple sessions and will I have to come back for follow up visits? Some cosmetic dentistry procedures require multiple sessions before treatment completion. Others may require follow-up visits in the future. Make sure you are aware of how much time you will be investing before you begin and that your schedule allows for the time needed.

§ Will any special oral care be needed after the procedure? Each procedure will require different post-treatment oral care. During your initial consultation, be sure to ask your dentist if there is anything special you need to do in the area of oral care once the procedure is complete.

Undergoing a cosmetic dentistry procedure is an exciting and rewarding experience for most people. The best way to ensure that your experience is smooth and easy is to be an informed consumer. By asking thorough questions and doing a little bit of pre-procedure research, you will rest easy on the day of your procedure knowing you have made the right decisions. You'll also leave your dentist's office with a wonderful new smile.
